UK-based insurer Aviva has entered into a five-year agreement to underwrite home assistance products for HomeServe.

Under the deal, Aviva will underwrite home assistance policies for around two million UK customers of HomeServe.

HomeServe is claimed to be the second largest provider of home assistance policies in the UK, and has been offering home assistance since 20 years.

Aviva global general insurance chairman and UK general insurance CEO Maurice Tulloch said: "I’m delighted Aviva has secured a new long term partnership with HomeServe – especially as this comes just a few months after we announced a new seven year relationship as exclusive provider of general insurance products to TSB customers.

HomeServe UK CEO Martin Bennett said: "HomeServe is on an exciting journey – our recent acquisition of Home Energy Services has enabled us to become a significant force in the heating market and now, our partnership with Aviva is a huge step forward and opportunity for significant growth."

In December 2014, Aviva agreed to acquire Friends Life for around £5.6bn ($8.8bn), to expand its insurance, savings and asset management business.

Friends Life was founded as Resolution Limited by entrepreneur Clive Cowdery in 2008, and changed its name to Friends Life Group in May 2014.

Aviva provides life insurance, general insurance, health insurance and asset management services to around 34 million customers across 16 markets globally.
