Aviva has appointed Ian Ferguson as chief underwriting officer for intermediary and partnerships and will report to Aviva intermediary and partnerships director Janice Deakin.

In his new role, Ferguson will be responsible for driving the focus on underwriting across the broker channel whilst delivering profitable growth.

Prior to the new role, Ferguson served as chief underwriting officer for commercial, corporate and speciality lines for Aviva.

Additionally, Aviva appointed Danielle Meldrum as head of small business and schemes, who previously served as head of household operations in claims.

Meldrum will be responsible to simplify Aviva’s processes so that brokers have access to faster quotes and support with schemes business.

Chris Hill has been appointed as head of commercial mid-market underwriting by Aviva, who previously served as commercial underwriting officer for the firm.

He is also responsible to further expand the insurer into mid-market sector and create a more tailored approach specifically for mid-market business.

Further, Aviva has named Paula Colk as senior quality and integrity manager and will be responsible for ensuring a consistent approach in underwriting data and reporting.
