Aviva has appointed Philippe Maso y Guell Rivet, former chief of AXA Insurance UK, as new CEO of Aviva France, effective 1 July.
He will also take up the role as director of Underwriting, Pricing and Product (UPP) for Aviva Europe and will join Aviva Europe’s executive committee. He will report to Igal Mayer, CEO of Aviva Europe.
The appointment of Guell Rivet is subject to regulatory approval.
He was CEO of AXA Insurance UK from 2008 to 2010 and was previously finance director of AXA’s UK business. He also held senior roles for AXA Group including leading its corporate finance and risk management division.
Upon completion of the transition, Nicolas Schimel, who acted as interim CEO of Aviva France, will dedicate himself fully to his position as chairman and CEO of UFF, an independent adviser company owned by Aviva France.
Aviva Europe and chairman of Aviva France Igal Mayer said Philippe’s expertise and experience will enable him to lead business in France while ensuring that the company develop underwriting, pricing and product innovation to allow the business to grow and meet customers’ needs across Europe.
