Aspen Insurance Holdings has promoted Julian Cusack as the COO of the company. His new role will include responsibility for the company's actuarial, risk management, compliance and legal departments.

Mr Cusack will also continue as chairman and CEO of Aspen Bermuda and these are roles he has held since November 2006 and June 2002 respectively. In addition, he will continue to chair Aspen’s reserving committee and maintain responsibility for certain special projects.

The company has also announced that its CFO, Richard Houghton, will assume additional responsibilities for operational oversight of Aspen’s human resources, information technology and insurance/reinsurance claim departments.

The promotion of Mr Cusack and the expansion of Mr Houghton’s role follows the decision by Stuart Sinclair, president and COO of Aspen, to resign with effect from April 17, 2008 in order to pursue other business and personal opportunities. Mr Cusack and Mr Houghton will continue to report to the company’s CEO, Chris O’Kane.

Mr O’Kane said: I would like to congratulate Julian on his appointment as COO. He has been an instrumental figure in Aspen’s development since the company’s inception and we are delighted to be able to further access his business acumen.
