Aspen Insurance has named Richard Aldorisio as executive vice president of casualty insurance unit, which now includes excess and primary casualty, with effective from 4 September 2012.

Having 30 years of underwriting and management experience Aldorisio will drive the casualty insurance business in the region, the insurer said.

Before Aspen, he was acting as managing director of casualty insurance at Markel Corporation. He joined Markel in 2005 and held a number of management positions.

Prior to Markel, Aldorisio worked with Argonaut Specialty, CNA, CHUBB, Crum & Forster and Greater New York Mutual.

Aspen Insurance CEO Mario Vitale said, "As a proven casualty executive, Rich will be able to quickly join forces with our highly talented group of casualty and excess underwriters, and continue to build on our platform to ensure the most effective delivery of products and services to our customers and brokers."

Aldorisio will report to CEO, Vitale, while Tim Ryan, executive vice president of excess casualty, and Mark Fuderanan has been promoted to senior vice president of primary casualty, will report to Aldorisio.

Aspen caters reinsurance and insurance coverage to clients in various domestic and global markets through wholly-owned subsidiaries and offices in Bermuda, France, Germany, Ireland, Singapore, Switzerland, the UK and the US.
