Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Christie Phoenix is a retail insurance broker, which offers commercial property/casualty and personal lines insurance services to middle-market and individual clients across British Columbia.

The firm specializes in developing programs for the commercial realty sector, as well as small business insurance packages and auto, home, marine and travel coverage.

Under the leadership of Gallagher’s Canadian brokerage operation head Ken Keenan, Christie Phoenix’s Chris Flint and his associates will continue to operate in their current locations.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. chairman, president and CEO J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr. said: "Christie Phoenix and Discovery are just the type of client-focused new merger partners we hoped to attract when we created our platform for growth in Canada.

"Their strong carrier relationships, highly regarded niche expertise and geographic presence in British Columbia will be an excellent complement to our Canadian operations."

In October, AJG acquired Ohio-based Sigma II Insurance Agency, which provides a broad range of employee benefits products and consulting services to their commercial and individual clients across the Midwest.

With operations in about 140 countries, AJG provides client-service capabilities across the globe through a network of correspondent brokers and consultants.
