Armour Group, a Bermuda-based group of (re)insurance and service companies, has made two new senior appointments, Ranbeer Bhatia and Andrea Piatti.

The new appointments are key additions to Armour’s continued growth strategy and execution of its global build-out for new business sourcing and new product development. In this regard both Mr. Bhatia and Piatti will report to Armour Group senior vice president and Armour new business development global head Steve Ryland. Bhatia will head Armour’s business development in North America. Piatti will serve as Head of European M&A and be responsible for Armour’s business development in Europe. In addition to business development in North America, Bhatia will also have responsibility for the group’s global capital markets function and will report to Armour’s founders for this aspect of his responsibilities.

Bhatia has over 15 years of capital markets experience in the financial services industry focused on sourcing, structuring and executing M&A and capital raising transactions in the insurance industry. He has extensive experience originating insurance M&A transactions across North America and raising capital for global insurance and reinsurance companies. He was previously the lead financial advisor to Armour Group on their $500 million permanent capital transaction in partnership with Aquiline Capital Partners. Mr. Bhatia has an MBA from University of Notre Dame and a BA in Economics from St. Stephen’s College in India.

Piatti is a senior professional with almost 20 years’ experience in the reinsurance and convergence sectors. He has extensive experience in serving insurance clients in Europe, designing and structuring innovative and capital efficient customised reinsurance solutions. Before joining Armour, Mr. Piatti was Head of Structured Solutions (EMEA) and Global Product Leader at MS Amlin in Zurich, where he developed and led MS Amlin’s global structured reinsurance efforts. Mr. Piatti holds an MSc in Mathematics from the Swiss Institute of Technology in Zurich and is a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM).
