US insurer Aon is in talks to relocate its UK headquarters to Canary Wharf in London's Docklands, according to the property company Songbird Estates.

Aon’s lease at Devonshire Square is due to expire between 2007 and 2009, and the company is looking for a new location for two years.

The company is seeking approximately 255,000 square feet of office space in a purpose built headquarters building at Canary Wharf. The deal would be the biggest headquarter letting for the building in three years.

The US-based insurer employs 2,000 staff in London and provides risk management services, insurance, reinsurance brokerage and management consulting.
