Aon said that Michael Bungert, chief executive officer (CEO) of Americas for Aon Benfield, and Dominic Christian, CEO, international for Aon Benfield, will serve as co-CEO's of Aon Benfield.

Mr Bungert had joined Aon Re as an executive vice president in 1989. He previously was with Thomas A Greene, where he was the head of Chicago office and a member of board of directors. He has been in the reinsurance business since 1977.

Prior to joining Aon, Mr Christian was a group board director of Benfield Group, CEO of International Division, and CEO of Benfield.

The company said that Michael O’Halleran and Grahame Chilton will continue to build upon strategies and relationships. Mr O’Halleran will continue to serve as executive chairman of the company, while Mr Chilton will assume a new role as chairman of the company with a focus on strategy, marketing and client development.

In addition, Andrew Appel, formerly CEO of Aon Benfield, will transition into a newly created role as chief operating officer of Aon. He will focus on enhancement of the company.
