Aon Risk Solutions, the global risk management business of Aon Corporation, has appointed the new leaders of its Professions practice in London, and made a number of strategic new hires.

The new team will offer specialized insurance brokerage and risk advisory services to professional service firms, including legal, accountancy, consultant and design professional firms.

As part of restructuring, David Powell has been formally named as new head of Professions in the UK. Powell is an 11 year veteran of Aon. He will bring 27 years of expertise within the insurance industry to the role.

Giles Bentley has been assigned the role of leader of the UK solicitors/consultants business. He also has taken responsibility for leading client service in the UK. He has 26 years of experience in the client facing role.

Andrew Newton has been appointed as leader of Aon’s UK Accountant’s retail team. He will add this responsibility to his existing client facing role, working with the ‘Big 4’ accounting firms.

In addition, the Professions team has also been expanded. Joining the team are Michael Earp as executive director and to lead the UK Design professional team, helping the country’s leading architects, engineers and construction companies with design capabilities manage their professional exposures.

Earp is a construction expert and will bring more than 30 years of experience in the industry to his role, including time spent as both an underwriter and broker.

Jane Hunter will join as new executive director and will provide loss prevention and risk management advice and expertise to clients. She will join from law firm Bird & Bird, where she has been a practicing solicitor for the last four years.

Eve McBrinn will join as director within the Professions team and will provide claims advice, bringing 15 years of experience as a professional indemnity solicitor, the last three of which were spent at Thomas Egger.

Tony Kavanagh will join as new director within the Professions team and will provide insurance brokerage and risk advisory services to UK solicitors and consultants.
