Amlin is planning to start writing Casualty reinsurance business from its Amlin Bermuda office.

The decision sees Peter Tadman, casualty underwriter at Amlin London, take on a new role in Bermuda writing casualty reinsurance for inceptions from 1 January 2011.

Tadman will be based in Bermuda from 22 November 2010. He joined the Amlin London Casualty Account in 2009; the book currently comprises US Treaty – covering healthcare, general casualty (including workmens’ compensation), professional liability, directors & officers liability and auto liability.

Prior to joining Amlin, Tadman underwrote the US Liability account at Argo International (formerly Heritage Syndicate). During his 14 years in the market, he has also worked for the Catlin Syndicate in its reinsurance division and HSBC Insurance Brokers, North America division.

Amlin Bermuda managing director Stuart MacKellar said the decision to extend existing book of business to include casualty reinsurance marks a natural progression in the development of the company’s business in Bermuda.

Amlin London head of Property and Casualty Duncan Dale said by providing new capital for casualty reinsurance business Amlin will further diversify already established book of business in Bermuda and offer increased backing to its London distribution channels.
