The Nevada health plan subsidiary of managed healthcare company Amerigroup has contracted with the State of Nevada to serve people enrolled in its Medicaid and State Children's Health Insurance programs, effective February 1, 2009.

Amerigroup Nevada has said that it will bring healthcare services to about 50,000 low-income Nevada residents who participate in the Medicaid and the Nevada Check Up program, which serves the Clark and Washoe counties.

As part of its contract with Amerigroup Nevada, the State of Nevada agreed to a rate schedule that reflects recent healthcare utilization experience in these programs.

James Carlson, chairman and CEO of Amerigroup, said: Amerigroup and the state share two goals: helping financially vulnerable Nevadans live healthier lives and serving Nevada taxpayers in a manner that is fiscally responsible. We believe that, together, we have laid the foundation for a successful partnership.
