Alteris has launched a national winery program, winery plus, in partnership with California-based specialty program manager SN Potter Insurance Agency (SNP). The program represents around 350 wineries and offers property and casualty insurance products to wineries, vineyard estates and custom crush facilities.

Alteris said that winery plus was recently formed by Argo Group to capture an efficient share of the market by offering managing general agencies and carriers with access to a range of risk solutions for specialty programs and alternative risks.

The program will be administered from SNP’s Lodi, California headquarters. Its portfolio of coverages, which will be underwritten and issued by Argonaut Insurance Company, includes commercial property, equipment breakdown, mobile equipment, crime, wind drift or overspray and general/liquor liability.

The new program also includes employee benefit liability, product withdrawal, automobile, Internet liability and network protection, employment practices liability, contract winemaking errors and omissions, and umbrella/excess liability.

In addition, the specialty coverage extensions include stock valuation options and also coverage for risks such as contamination, leakage, transit, wine caves, unintentional property errors, off-premises power interruption, and nesting/infestation.

Hilbert ‘Van’ Schenck, president of Alteris, said: “We view SNP as a strategic partner for Alteris. SNP’s strong broker network, coupled with its market share, niche background, and geographic focus, are qualities we value in a program manager.”
