Alliant Insurance Services, a California-based specialty insurance brokerage firm, has formed a national public entity environmental liability insurance program through a partnership with ACE Environmental Risk, the US-based environmental underwriting business of the ACE Group.

According to Alliant Insurance, the Alliant Public Entity Environmental Liability (APEEL) Program will offer group members with customized coverage to address the unique pollution liability exposures of public agencies.

The coverage includes fixed site pollution for owned locations, as well as off-site covered operations common to public entities. The program is in all 50 states of the US.

APEEL provides public entities with a single comprehensive policy that includes coverage for premises, covered operations, transportation, bodily injury/property damage from pollution conditions, pollution clean-up, and both above-ground and underground storage tanks.

In this program, the experts from the Alliant’s environmental group will provide advice and consultation on a complete range of environmental liability exposures and risk management strategies.

Alliant public entity group senior executive vice president and managing director Daniel Howell said APEEL is the first national group purchase program created specifically to provide this specialized coverage to public entities.

"Environmental risk has become a major and growing concern for public entities today, and APEEL provides the comprehensive protection they need at rates that are significantly less than those generally available with a standalone insurance policy," Howell said.
