AIG's accident and health unit has announced the launch of a new insurance program, designed to help companies strengthen their benefit packages with broad vision coverage that can be customized to meet the specific needs of their businesses.

The program, ‘AIG Vision Care’, is said to deliver a full-range of eye-care programs supported by an accessible network of ophthalmologists, optometrists, opticians and vision care centers located throughout the US.

AIG explained that with more than 150 million Americans wearing corrective lenses, companies that include quality vision coverage as part of their benefits package may be better positioned to attract and retain skilled employees.

A sound vision care program not only satisfies the growing demand for such coverage, it may help to improve employee productivity and limit absenteeism related to vision ailments, said Stephen Gold, president, AIG Domestic Accident and Health Division. Further, the AIG Vision Care program can be easily added to existing benefit plans with minimal additional administration.
