American International Group, the US insurance company under investigation for for overstating earnings, has announced the appointment of Michael Roemer as director of internal audit.
Mr Roemer succeeds Keith Duckett, who has been named vice president of AIG’s administrative operations. As former senior vice president in the general audit department of JP Morgan Chase, Mr Roemer was responsible for overall audit coverage of finance, risk management, commercial banking and the trust, custody and cash management businesses.
Mr Duckett joined AIG’s internal audit division in 1987 and held various management positions within the division before being appointed director of technical accounting standards in 1992. He was named AIG Director of internal audit in 1995, and elected an AIG vice president in 2001.
As vice president of administration, Mr Duckett will have responsibility for AIG’s global security, global sourcing and global real estate and will identify opportunities to provide enhanced service, support and efficiency to AIG’s worldwide businesses.
