American International Group (AIG) is planning to combine its two units into a single organization to offer insurance services for employees, employers and affinity groups.

Chartis US Accident and Health and American General Life Companies will be named AIG Benefit Solutions, led by Curtis Olson.

Olson said through this joint venture, they will not only create a new and stronger benefits division,they are positioned to become a major player in the benefits market.

The new organization will offer products and services through two segments: US Employee Benefits, which will offer group and individual employee benefits, including many voluntary/worksite products; and US Affinity Benefits, which will offer products and services to affinity groups.

AIG Benefit Solutions will be composed of Chartis Corporate Benefits, a unit which includes Corporate Medical Excess and Work; and American General Benefit Solutions, a unit which includes Employee Benefit Solutions and Affinity Benefit Solutions.
