US insurer American International Group (AIG) has launched an enhanced general liability program to provide coverage for construction clients facing Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) investigations.

Dubbed OSHA Assist, the program provides legal support and additional limits to the policyholders in case a work place injury or death leads to an investigation by OSHA.

The expanded general liability coverage include access to representation from a selection of expert legal counsel specializing in OSHA litigation and access to legal advice to meet arbitration issues that are directly associated with an OSHA investigation.

AIG US and Canada evp and Construction Casualty leader Tom Grandmaison said the company understands the importance of supporting customers goals to meet and exceed OSHA standards for safety on construction sites.

”Equally important is our commitment to ensure the financial stability – and ultimate completion – of the buildings, bridges, schools, and other important construction projects in which our clients are involved,” Grandmaison added.

OSHA Assist also provides reimbursement of defense costs up to a specified aggregate limit for as long as a Chartis-approved legal advocate is retained during the proceedings.
