Aetna has signed an agreement to acquire Horizon Behavioral Services for approximately $70 million. Horizon is a Lewisville, Texas-based provider of Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) services to mid-sized and large employers.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including Hart-Scott-Rodino anti-trust approval and applicable regulatory approvals in California.

Aetna would acquire Horizon Behavioral Services from its parent company, Psychiatric Solutions, an operator of owned or leased freestanding psychiatric inpatient facilities.
