Aegon has announced that Stewart Ritchie, director of its pensions development, is to retire from the company after almost 36 years.

Mr Ritchie’s career began when he joined Scottish Equitable, a brand of Aegon, in 1972 as an actuarial trainee. As director of pensions development at Scottish Equitable, he has had a leading role in keeping advisers up to date with the ever changing pensions landscape through regular briefings.

Mr Ritchie has also been an active member of the actuarial profession and in June 2008 he completed a two-year term as the president of the Faculty of Actuaries.

Otto Thoresen, CEO of Aegon UK, said: Stewart Ritchie’s work has been fundamental in developing Aegon’s position as a leading pension provider, but the whole of the long term savings industry has benefited from his insight and experience, and tireless enthusiasm for his subject.
