The new energy underwriting unit within ACE Risk Management is expected to enhance the company's existing US energy operations

ACE USA has appointed Keith Mattheessen as senior vice president (SVP) and chief underwriting officer (CUO) of the ACE Risk Management energy underwriting unit. This new energy underwriting unit within ACE Risk Management is expected to enhance the company’s existing US energy operations, by providing a centralised point of access for specialised insurance coverage and risk management suites to the energy industry.

Mr. Mattheessen, in his new role, will have overall underwriting authority for the entire energy book of business, including accounts of all sizes. He will also work collaboratively to provide customers and brokers access to the full spectrum of ACE USA’s energy-related products and services, and a range of risk control consulting services through ESIS, ACE Group’s risk management services company.

Most recently, Mr. Mattheessen served as senior vice president and Houston branch manager for ACE Risk Management, ACE USA’s primary casualty division. Prior to joining ACE USA in 1999, he held various senior leadership roles with several global carriers, located in Houston. He will report to William Curcio, president, ACE Risk Management.

In conjunction, Tim Rau, based in Dallas, currently serving as senior vice president and Dallas branch manager for ACE Risk Management, will expand his responsibilities to include the Houston Branch.
