ACE European Group has named Matthew Shaw as the new chief underwriting officer of ACE Global Markets.

In addition, Mr Shaw assumes the position of chairman of ACE Tempest Re Europe, where he was previously the managing director. Andreas Lewin is appointed successor to Mr Shaw, becoming managing director of ACE Tempest Re Europe.

In his new role, Mr Shaw will report directly to Richard Pryce, president of ACE UK. He joined ACE Tempest Re Europe in October 2002 from St Paul, where he served as a director of the board of the managing agent and active underwriter for syndicate 340.

In his new role as managing director, Mr Lewin reports to Jacques Bonneau, president and CEO of ACE Tempest Re Group and Mr Shaw.

Mr Lewin previously served as president and CEO of ACE Tempest Re Bermuda. He joined the company in April 1998. He holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston and the associate in reinsurance designation.
