ACE European Group has appointed Andreas Wania as its new regional manager for Central and Eastern Europe.

Mr Wania’s role encompasses a region extending from Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States in the north through Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) to ACE’s forthcoming Turkish operation in the south.

Mr Wania joined ACE in October 2004 to start-up ACE Insurance Company, ACE’s non-life Russian unit. As country manager for ACE’s operation in Russia and in his new role, he will report directly to David Furby, president of Continental Europe.

Mr Furby said: Andreas has done a tremendous job in Russia, building our business there from scratch and taking advantage of the many opportunities arising from the rapidly growing Russian economy. In his new role, Andreas will be able to use his Russian experience to the benefit of other ACE operations within the CEE region and in the near future, ACE Turkey.
