ACE USA, the US-based retail operating division of the ACE Group, has appointed Andrew Hurley as new chief operating officer of its New York region.

In this new role, Hurley will assist in developing and executing the regional business plan, and driving regional segmentation development, and also continue to oversee operations of the Morristown, branch office.

The insurer also appointed Katharyn Kubursi as new vice president and national segment leader of its New York region.

Kubursi will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of ACE USA’s National Account segmentation strategy throughout the New York region, and for maintaining and expanding relationships with large clients across all lines of business.

Kubursi will collaborate with clients and their broker partners to deliver ACE’s products and services, with customized solutions that meet their risk management objectives.

Hurley and Kubursi will report to John Alfieri, senior vice president and regional executive officer, ACE USA New York region.

With over 19 years of insurance experience, primarily in commercial lines, Hurley joined ACE USA in 2006 as branch manager of its Northern New Jersey office, and subsequently served as corporate risk segment leader for the company’s New York office.

Kubursi joined ACE USA in 2006, with more than ten years of insurance industry experience, as part of ACE USA’s Mid-Atlantic regional operations.

Prior to her tenure with ACE, Kubursi held various positions in business development and account management at American International Group (AIG), Commerce Insurance Services, part of Commerce Capital Markets, and Marsh.
