ACE Group subsidiary, ACE USA has appointed Darren Small as vice president and underwriting manager for its National Custom Casualty Energy unit.
Darren will report to Mitchell Schmidt, senior vice president and national manager of ACE USA’s Custom Casualty unit and will be based in Chicago, Illinois, US.
In his new role, Darren Small will oversee the unit’s traditional and renewable energy businesses on a national basis including underwriting and overall operations.
Darren Small held services with ACE USA’s Custom Casualty Renewable Energy Unit as vice president and national energy underwriting manager since 2010 and has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry.
Prior to joining ACE, Darren served Chubb Group of Insurance Companies as assistant vice president and worldwide bio-fuels underwriting manager in addition to various traditional and renewable energy underwriting and management positions with the firm in the US and Canada.
ACE also announced the planned retirement of John Moore, vice president and underwriting manager for the National Custom Casualty Energy unit, in May 2012.
Moore served ACE since 2006 and has more than 40 years of experience in the insurance industry.
