Insurance group ACE has appointed Ashley Mullins as new global compliance officer.

Based in New York, Mullins will be responsible for providing ethics and business practices guidance and related education across the ACE organization, and maintaining a global monitoring function to evaluate compliance.

Mullins will be reporting to the audit committee of ACE’s board of directors, as well as to ACE chairman and CEO Evan Greenberg and general counsel Robert Cusumano.

He will replace Audrey Samers, who was recently named deputy general counsel, ACE North America, and general counsel of ACE Private Risk Services.

Mullins joined ACE in 2002 as legal counsel to ACE Asia Pacific. In 2006, he was appointed company secretary and general counsel to ACE Australia and New Zealand and played a key role in the legal and functional integration of the ACE and Combined Insurance businesses in those countries.

Cusumano said Mullins’ leadership and legal experience in the diverse and dynamic Asia Pacific region, an area that is so important to the company’s future, will be an asset as he develops effective compliance programs around the world.
