US-based ABRY Partners has signed an agreement to acquire insurance and assistance services provider International Medical Group (IMG).

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

IMG president and CEO Brian Barwick said: "With decades of experience investing in high-quality companies, ABRY will complement IMG’s growth by providing capital to further expand our global presence."

Established in 1989 as a managing general underwriter, IMG currently provides insurance services to several customers in around 200 countries.

Based in Indianapolis, the company’s global family of companies includes Akeso Care Management, IMG Europe, IMG-Stop Loss, Global Response, iTravelInsured and International Medical Administrators.

ABRY Partner Brent Stone said: "Over the years, IMG has developed a reputation for excellence in the global insurance and assistance services markets."
