Software AG announced the development of an improved omnichannel capability for AAFMAA (American Armed Forces Mutual Aid Association) to enhance the provision of military life insurance and financial solutions as well as increase engagement across multiple channels that support more than 90,000 American service members, veterans and their families.
Amarish Pathak, Chief Information Officer, AAFMAA, said, "Our goals were to optimize current investments, significantly modernize our systems and website, provide access from any mobile device, and reduce costs.
"In essence, we wanted to make it even easier for our members, current and former American service members and their families, to access, select and manage the most competitive insurance and financial solutions available to them. I’m delighted to say that we achieved this and reduced our costs and provided a new self-service offering via web and mobile devices to our members."
AAFMAA is using Software AG’s NaturalONE to develop and upgrade its applications. Mr. Pathak noted, "As an Eclipse-based software product, NaturalONE has enabled us to build our team with computer science students who have already learned Eclipse at their universities, providing continuity for the foreseeable future."
To modernize AAFMAA’s website and develop mobile access, Software AG partnered with MetroStar Systems. Additionally, MetroStar Systems transformed its mainframe applications using Adabas and Natural Application Modernization platform to meet the demands of AAFMAA members.
This approach ensured that AAFMAA did not need to ‘rip and replace’ core systems, but rather modernized its current environment with a new ‘look and feel’.
